Artist Statement
The focus of my stamp and two simulated signs were the everyday places that holds a meaning to me. The stamp I decided to create says the words "Skate Only" and a skateboard. Back in high school, I was friends with all of the skaters, even though I didn't skate myself. To my friends, every platform was an obstacle or a fun thing to skate on. The first simulated sign I created has the phrase "Wait Faster!!!" with a small train and train tracks. Whenever I wait for the Caltrain, seconds feel like minutes. I get very anxious about the Caltrain because this whole year has been filled with delays. I've been taking Caltrain since middle school and I've never experienced so many delays before. Even if I scroll through my phone, I get frustrated and impatient. The second simulated sign I created has the words "Cry Zone" on it. The park that this was inspiried by was the place I would to to in high school to relieve stress, usually in the form of crying.
